Can they be put in the freezer or the dishwasher safely? Can I place extremely hot items in the containers? All of these are very common and important questions we at LA Container get asked about our plastic containers. In this blog we will answer these temperature related questions so you can make the most informed container decision possible.

Let’s start with the first question, are their temperature limits? The short answer is yes. We specially design our parts to safely handle any temperature within the containers limitations. Most of our polypropylene containers have a melting point between 240-260° Fahrenheit, Which is also the melting point for any polypropylene plastic. Good news is that most temperature related uses for our containers would not even come close to hitting that temperature.

Take a dishwasher for example. The average temperature of a consumer grade home dishwasher is between 120-150° F. This means containers like select sizes in the LA Cons like the 150750 and the LA Vials VL80L can be safely washed using the top rack of standard dishwashers. This is great news for anyone looking to wash and have a reusable plastic container instead of just throwing them away. We always welcome ideas on how to reuse our containers so feel free to share your ideas on our social media sites.

Let’s say you need to place the containers in some boiling water for an experiment. The boiling point for water is 212° Fahrenheit, which again makes our containers safe for this practice.

What about businesses that need to put hot items like wax, lip balms or melted food like chocolate inside the containers for cooling and eventual sampling? Our Food safe, FDA complaint containers are once again up for the challenge as none of those items reach a temperature above 150° Fahrenheit. One should note that our containers should not be used in the microwave, nor should they come in contact with an open flame.

There are several advantages for using our containers as opposed to other packaging options. Our containers come with an attached lid, which will help keep your contents safe and prevent the lid from being misplaced.

The next, and probably the most important, feature of our containers is the material we use. LA Container uses a medical grade, class VI plastic that is BPA free and is REACH, RoHS and FDA compliant. This makes our containers safe for food and basically any other item you may need to store. This high quality plastic also ensures that no harmful chemicals will leach out in the heating process, as the container doesn’t contain them to begin with.

As always we recommend testing your temperature sensitive items in our containers before mass purchasing and if you have any other questions about items not mentioned please give us a call or check out our website HERE!
