Electrostatic discharge, or ESD, occurs when a non-conducting surface comes in contact with another, and then the two surfaces are separated causing a spark. This spark can destroy sensitive electronics or magnetic media, and can cause explosions or fires in flammable environments. This is why LAContainer<\/a> has created the StatCons two-piece ESD Protective containers<\/a>, to help you keep your parts protected and your workplace safe.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_3876EDIT\"<\/a>StatCons<\/a> are a sturdy, two-piece plastic container that is made with either transparent blue static dissipative or opaque black conductive polypropylene. Both of these ESD inhibiting plastics are REACH and RoHS compliant and are a permanent anti-static material. This means the anti-static component will not leach out over time, making these containers reusable and even recyclable.
\nMore technically the blue static dissipative containers have a surface resistivity of 108<\/sup> to 1010 <\/sup>ohms per square and have a static decay rate from 5 KiloVolts to 50 Volts in 200 nanoseconds. Additionally these transparent blue FDA complaint containers are great for small electrical parts and circuit boards that are sensitive to small electronic shocks as they dissipate the electronic charges before it accumulates to dangerous levels<\/p>\n

\"IMG_3853EDIT\"<\/a>On the other hand, we have the Conductive Anti-Static option. This ESD inhibiting plastic has a surface resistivity between 103<\/sup> to 106<\/sup> ohms per square and have a static decay rate of 5 KiloVolts to 50 Volts within 200 nanoseconds. These opaque black containers are great for use in your ESD safe environments with explosives and other conductive settings that require a conductive non-metal container.<\/p>\n
