Conductive Grade polymers prevent the sudden release of electricity between two objects known as Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). This is caused mainly by Triboelectric charging, the transfer of electrons through friction between two objects’ surfaces. ESD outbursts can ignite explosive materials like gunpowder, a particular concern in the pyrotechnic industry, and can severely damage sensitive electronics, such as integrated circuits. Even microscopic bursts of ESD can make capacitors or CCDs unusable.
Conductive Anti-Static containers are available in either cylindrical or rectangular designs in an extensive amount of sizes to fit any industry, lab, or commercial application. Square CAS containers are available in the Flex-a-Top series, available in over 15 sizes, feature a rigid and stack able solution. Round CAS containers are available in either the LA Vials or LA Cons series.
In addition to being compliant with Federal Test Standard 101C Method 4046.1 for resistivity, this CAS material is FDA, REACH, RoHs compliant and has no latex or dry rubber added to the material from the manufacturer. CAS is achieved through the addition of carbon fiber or carbon powder to the polymers, creating a distinct opaque black appearance.
As a protective material, plastic features many advantages over using surface coatings or metals. Individual containers are easier to transport from factory to facility, being both lighter and cheaper to ship.
